About The Position

The Warehouse Specialist will provide services and support to the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center contract located at Edwards AFB, California. The Warehouse Specialist will perform duties primarily associated with SCA Labor Category Warehouse Specialist from the SCA Directory of Occupations 5th edition. The pay range for this position is $19.00-$23.00 per hour, dependent upon skills and experience.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a warehouse or other industrial environment and/or experience with driving trucks and/or other non-CDL required vehicles
  • Experience using computers as part of a military or civilian retail / store / warehouse environment
  • Must pass NASA forklift training and certification and pass NASA physical to receive forklift license
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Secret security clearance
  • Must be able to clearly read, write, speak, and comprehend English
  • Must possess the ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and via email
  • Must have current state driver’s licenses to operate materiel handling equipment and up to a medium duty, non-Commercial Driver’s License required, truck
  • Clean driving record
  • Must possess the ability to be trained in the use of warehouse tools and manual material handling equipment
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to meet background investigation requirements relevant to the position, consistent with applicable laws.
  • Must be willing to comply with pre-employment and random drug testing, in accordance with company policy.
  • Must possess the ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must possess the ability to perform the physical requirements of the position including being on your feet most of the day and lifting requirements

Responsibilities

  • Be assigned to one or more work areas to support contract Logistics Services consisting of: Supply and Materials Management, Equipment Management, Property Disposal, Transportation Management (including shipping and fleet management), Mail Management
  • Perform duties found within the Performance Work Statement (PWS) section 4, Supply and Materials Management Operations and may support section 8, Mail Management in accordance with NASA Instructions and Technical Directives
  • Perform industrial actions in support of supply management services in accordance with NPD 4100.1, Supply Support & Material Management Policy, NPR 4100.1, NASA Supply Support and Material Management and AFOP 4100.1 Stock (Store, Program & Standby) Issue & Turn-In Procedure
  • Perform warehousing operations for the Center require the use of two different systems: and any future approved NASA automated systems
  • NASA SAP SMS for non-aircraft parts
  • NASA NAMIS for aircraft parts
  • Keep both systems up to date with information that accurately reflects all warehousing activities
  • May provide mail services (i.e., receipt, storage, and distribution) for the AFRC community to include United States Postal Service (USPS) mail, express/certified/registered/priority and small packages, AFRC internal mail, and pouch mail
  • If trained and required to support mail duties, will be required to obtain and retain a Secret clearance
  • Utilize NASA provided computer equipment and software/databases to perform required job duties
  • Be familiar with NASA publications, forms, and regulations listed in the PWS and how all work activities are performed in accordance with those references
  • Verifying materials against receiving documents, noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages, routing materials to prescribed storage location(s)
  • Storing, stacking, or palletizing materials in accordance with prescribed storage methods, rearranging and taking inventory of stored materials, examining stored materials and reporting deterioration and damage, and removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment
  • May be tasked, trained, and perform duties as a non-CDL Truck Driver or Material Handling Equipment operator, including operating: Medium Trucks, Forklifts, and Specialty Material Handling Equipment
  • May make parts deliveries to customers using vehicles including golf carts, GEM carts, and light duty trucks
