Why This Role Matters The Warehouse Supervisor serves a critical role in the effective and efficient running of day to day pre-sale logistics at Christie’s warehouses. This role is responsible for overseeing the proper handling and storage of all property within the various warehouses as well as ensuring the safe movement throughout the building. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, direct line management of Art Handler staff, inventory management, vendor management as needed, and various administrative tasks. How You'll Make an Impact Oversee a team of fulltime art handlers to ensure that property is properly processed, organized, tagged, scanned, and handled at all times, set meaningful objectives and manage ongoing development of a high performing team. Manage specific warehouse zones to ensure all fine art property is safely and securely stored in accordance to Christie’s standards. Provide logistical support to specialists during cataloguing and sale deadlines. Ensure proactive communication and planning with various Art Departments, Warehouses, Photography, Saleroom, and Inventory Control, along with various vendors. Ensure a highly controlled, clean, and organized work environment is maintained at all times in accordance with 5S Standard with a particular focus on personal and property safety. Maintaining the quality of our overall inventory management via the regular implementation of warehouse scanning and reconciliation of information. Collaborate with Inventory team in identifying and processing delinquent stock, providing recommendations for property clearance as needed. Ensure all client property is tagged and condition checked with all product movement recorded accurately in Christie’s Inventory Management system. Complete and execute reports including but not limited to Damage Reports, Temp-Releases, Site Transfers, Condition Reports, and others as needed via the JDE inventory system. Maintain strong working relationships with Post-Sale Services, Art Transport, Specialist Departments and Inventory management team. Support labor and resource planning based on sale schedules and volume projections. Problem solve as issues arise and ensure proactive communication to all impacted groups. Improve space orientation and optimize property flow in warehouses. Adherence to process and best practice as outlined by the Logistics Dept. at Christie’s. Develop and implement any process improvements in conjunction with Management. Handle confidential information with tact and discretion. Provide periodic support and coverage at other Christie’s facilities in region. Other duties and projects as assigned by Manager.

Requirements

  • College degree or work equivalent
  • 2-4 years of prior experience in art handling and warehousing
  • 2+ years of direct line management experience.
  • Facility with PC computers in a Windows environment, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to become proficient with Christie's JDE inventory system

  • Ideally with experience managing union staff.
