The Overnight Counselor is responsible for the overall safety of the participants in the program at 28 Rockwell Street during overnight hours. The Overnight Counselor will monitor participants throughout the night, respond to crises or emergencies, and assist participants with overnight activities of daily living (ADL) needs as necessary. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other staff to maintain a calm, safe, and respectful overnight environment that supports rest, stability, and housing retention. The Overnight Counselor will create and maintain a respectable atmosphere that empowers very chronic, mentally ill participants to reach their highest level of functioning. The Overnight Counselor will be assigned participants and ensure follow-through on individual treatment plans as appropriate to the overnight shift, document observations and incidents in the log and participant charts, and ensure that all floors are clean and tidy, including but not limited to kitchens, hallways, bathrooms, and individual participants’ rooms. This program will follow the models of Housing First/Safe Haven. Due to emergency or unforeseen program needs, staff may be temporarily or permanently reassigned to another Safe Haven program at any given time.
