The Nutrition Aide provides support to WIC program participants, including assisting with the eligibility determination of new and existing WIC participants. Essential Functions of the Job: Client Services: 95% Collect, screen and document income, address and category information for WIC certification Input data into WIC MIS Issue food benefits Provide appointments and necessary forms to current and potential WIC participants Educate participants on non-nutritional issues such as program orientation, including the use of food benefits Document nutrition education attendance Take participants’ height and weight and screen for anemia Prepare and ensure that participants have all necessary materials for nutrition classes and certifications Call participants to remind them of their appointment or re-schedule missed appointments Demonstrate openness to organizational changes Actively seek out ways to improve processes Other WIC Support Services: 5% Assist with filing and data storage Maintain and submit orders for adequate inventory of office supplies Participate in program linkages, referral, and outreach activities Additional Duties and Responsibilities Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops Attends meetings as required and participates in committees as directed Performs related duties as assigned or requested
