Workday Architect

Hummingbird Healthcare
1d$146,000 - $189,000Remote

About The Position

Hi. We’re Hummingbird. We’re elevating patient access so patients can get healthcare how, when, and where they need it. We partner with healthcare systems to transform how patients access care, enabling their providers to focus on what matters most – caring for patients. By managing patient access as a technology-enabled service, we help health systems stabilize costs and improve patient experience while creating good jobs that attract and retain talent in the industry. Our team of experts is obsessed with the connection between the people, processes, and technology that make healthcare organizations hum. Join us and help build the healthcare experience we want for our communities, our families, and ourselves. Summary Be the architect behind a Workday ecosystem that stays stable and keeps getting better. As our Workday Architect, you’ll design and govern the strategy for our Workday instance, so it remains secure, scalable, and easy to use as Hummingbird grows. You’ll think at the highest level of our Workday environment: what we should adopt next, what we should standardize, what we should keep stable, and how we can help teams work faster by simplifying workflows and automating the right things. On a typical day, you’ll be partnering with business and technical teams to translate messy, real-world needs into clear architectural decisions. You’ll review designs, set standards, guide integrations and reporting patterns, and help teams make smart tradeoffs—so we don’t create fragmentation over time. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you lead through expertise, judgment, and enablement (not people management).

Requirements

  • 5+ years as a Workday Solutions Architect or Product Owner, covering configuration, security, reporting, and integrations (or Workday Admin experience paired with Solutions Architect/Product Owner experience on another HRIS)
  • 8–10+ years of advanced impact in enterprise applications, including at least one HRIS (Workday strongly preferred), with consistent multi-team influence
  • Strong experience in Workday reporting and analytics across modules
  • Experience building reusable standards, frameworks, tools, or programs adopted beyond your home team
  • Deep systems thinking and sound judgment in high-risk, high-uncertainty work; able to guide others through ambiguity
  • Expertise in integration methods, middleware, and secure data sharing standards
  • Strong communication skills: you can turn complex technical problems into clear decisions and adoption paths
  • Comfort working with both technical teams and executive stakeholders
  • Familiarity with audit, compliance, and platform governance (including SOX environments, risk management, and access control best practices)

Nice To Haves

  • Workday Pro or Architect certification(s)
  • Familiarity with integration tooling such as Workday EIB or Studio, connectors, MuleSoft, or Boomi
  • Experience leading multi-team initiatives end-to-end
  • Experience establishing governance bodies, decision frameworks, or reusable reference architectures
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced or start-up environment

Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve the end-to-end architecture for Workday and adjacent enterprise platforms, keeping systems coherent, scalable, and secure
  • Define and socialize standards for configuration, security, reporting, and integrations so teams can build consistently
  • Translate ambiguous or competing cross-functional requirements into clear decisions, documented tradeoffs, and durable architecture patterns
  • Establish governance guardrails (and decision frameworks) that prevent technical debt while still supporting delivery speed
  • Own integration patterns and data design standards across systems, including APIs, middleware, and third-party connectors
  • Set expectations for system-of-record decisions, master data ownership, and “golden record” definitions across the enterprise
  • Define release and change-management approaches, including impact analysis and readiness planning for major Workday updates
  • Build reusable documentation (diagrams, rationale, reference architectures) that both technical and non-technical partners can actually use
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders—from technical teams to executive leaders—on platform strategy and architectural direction
  • Mentor and enable teammates by modeling strong systems thinking and helping others navigate high-ambiguity decisions

Benefits

  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • paid time off
  • 401(k)
  • parental leave
  • career development support
  • and more
