About The Position

To facilitate degree completion and hiring of students in full-time, part-time and work-based learning opportunities related to career and technical programs by establishing and maintaining working relationships with Career and Technical Education (CTE) students and local employers.

Requirements

  • Experience: One to two years working with college students and professional experience in a related field (workforce development, corporate training, or business relations).
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
  • Other Skills: Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, coordination and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.
  • Competencies in networking with community partners and local employers.
  • Physical Requirements: The work is mostly sedentary; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
  • Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office. High level of energy and enthusiasm. Evening and some weekends required. Travel necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates businesses and industry contacts at Salem Community College
  • Evaluates CTE student competencies and interests to effectively connect them to appropriate employer partners.
  • Assists with the promotion of CTE programs.
  • Aids in the development, coordination and maintenance of work-based learning placements for CTE programs.
  • Develops and maintains all necessary documentation related to work-based learning placement, ensuring clarity and compliance for students, faculty, and employers.
  • Cultivates and leverages relationships with local employers to secure work-based learning opportunities, ensuring effective communication of these openings to relevant faculty and students.
  • Communicates with students, employers, business representatives and the community about the benefits of SCC’s career and technical education programs.
  • Maintains and reports to the appropriate departments detailed documentation regarding career placement, academic transfer, and program completion for CTE students.
  • Implement grant-funded initiatives under the Perkins framework, aligning expenditures and activities with the college's Career and Technical Education (CTE) goals and regional workforce demands.
  • Other duties, as assigned
