Responsible for the overall leadership, coordination, and successful implementation of the SAMHSA-funded Zero Suicide initiative. Ensures fidelity to the Zero Suicide framework, in a manner that is culturally grounded, community-driven, and tribally led, while ensuring full compliance with federal grant requirements, and alignment with organizational and community priorities to reduce suicide risk and improve the systems of care. Plans, organizes, and directs program elements and activities in the area of improving tribal infrastructure as seen in the Zero Suicide grant; develops and revises organizational programs and systems; supervises personnel for project; coordinates program plans and operations with leadership and other managers. Develop improvements in organization, problems, and personnel management. Reviews progress of service providers. Knowledge of the current literature, trends, and developments in the area of mental health and suicide prevention and intervention with children and youth. Ability to work with multiple programs and operations and to apply considerable knowledge of management principles and practices. Ability to communicate constructively and effectively with audience groups and new media. Works in close collaboration with tribal leadership, health departments, behavioral health providers, elders, youth, and community partners to strengthen suicide prevention systems and promote healing and wellness. Provides high-level of support for Behavioral Health Services, Special Projects Unit and Victim Resource Program with coordination of special projects of grants that are inclusive to community outreach, volunteer coordination, community events/outreach, and education/training programs. Assist other Project Directors, Managers, Coordinators and Behavioral Health employees to ensure grant goals and objectives are met. Independently work to resolve conflicts and issues in a professional manner per YN Personnel Policy Manual. Given the diversity across tasks and projects, Special Project Manager will be expected to be versatile and learn and to act on new information efficiently through reporting systems.
