About The Position

HEAPY is seeking an Application Developer who is passionate about building tools and automations that make work easier for end users. This role focuses on developing applications and connectors that retrieve, move, and synchronize data between systems—most commonly via APIs. A colleague in this position will work on multi-platform integrations and contribute to the HEAPY innovation ecosystem by creating solutions that streamline daily operations across the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career technologist, or anyone eager to learn modern integration and automation tools. This position will be based out of the HEAPY Dayton office.

Requirements

  • Foundational programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript, C#, or similar.
  • Basic understanding of APIs (REST, JSON, authentication methods) and how to use them.
  • Interest or experience in middleware/integration platforms (Power Automate, Workato, MuleSoft, Boomi, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving ability and willingness/interest to learn new technologies, tools, and systems, with an ability to understand how applications connect and interact.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building automations, bots, or integration workflows.
  • Familiarity with version control (Git) and basic DevOps practices.
  • Experience working with ERP, CRM, or enterprise software systems (e.g., Deltek).
  • Familiarity with applying AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot Studio, generative AI APIs) to enhance automations, integrations, or business workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Designs, develops, and maintains API-based applications that retrieve and push data across platforms (e.g., Deltek, Autodesk Platform Services other enterprise systems).
  • Builds and maintains custom connectors, ensuring smooth and secure data flow between systems.
  • Creates automation workflows using tools such as Power Automate, Workato, or similar middleware integration platforms.
  • Develops lightweight internal applications and tools that simplify end-user tasks and streamline business processes.
  • Builds and enhances multi-agent and bot-based automation solutions leveraging innovative and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to understand process challenges and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Troubleshoots integration issues and optimizes data movement, performance, and reliability.
  • Assists with API exploration, testing, and documentation to support integration projects.
  • Participates in the full development lifecycle—from requirements gathering to deployment and support.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve workflows using automation and brings ideas and suggestions to key stakeholders.
  • Writes clean, maintainable, and scalable code, with clear documentation and version history.
  • Additional responsibilities as requested/needed.
