What You’ll Do: As the Store Assistant Manager, you’ll support daily store operations to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness, driving revenue to support Goodwill’s mission. Working under the Store Manager, you’ll assist in team development, help identify growth opportunities for employees, and contribute to the ongoing success of the retail store and its mission.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, with flexibility to accommodate diverse communication styles and abilities, ensuring inclusive engagement with the public, department staff, and individuals with varying needs.
  • Basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation for travel between Goodwill sites and Goodwill auxiliaries.
  • Employment offer is contingent upon the successful completion of a drug test and criminal background check.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to twist, bend, squat, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, push and pull.
  • The employee must be able to lift up to 40 pounds and team lift or use equipment to aid in the lifting and movement of items over 40 pounds (common items include, but are not limited to, bags of clothes/miscellaneous items, televisions, computers, sofas, kitchen appliances, bicycles and bedroom sets).
  • Working environment is indoors with occasional exposure to outside temperatures, and will work around occupational allergens, both air and contact, including but not limited to, dust, animal hair and dander, perfumes, and mold.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to manage store operations, ensuring adherence to Goodwill's policies and procedures.
  • Handle financial tasks such as cash management, register balancing, and store finance reporting, and perform store audits to drive necessary changes.
  • Manage product logistics, including pricing, sorting, stocking, and use of equipment (e.g., fork trucks and pallet jacks), while training and developing team members.
  • Oversee scheduling, timecard preparation, and approval in coordination with the Store Manager; ensure efficient store operations and adherence to policies.
  • Monitor store supplies, transportation, and maintenance needs, and analyze key performance reports (e.g., Daily Sales Report, Donor Tracker, Payroll %).
  • Foster a positive customer and donor experience, ensure proper handling of donations, and maintain store branding, security, and cleanliness.
