The Assistant Safety Manager supports the development, implementation, and monitoring of safety programs across active construction sites in the DFW metroplex. This role assists the Sr. Safety Manager and project teams in maintaining compliance with OSHA, local regulations, and McKissack’s internal safety standards. The ideal candidate brings strong field awareness, technical understanding of safety practices, and the ability to build trust with project teams and trade partners.

Requirements

  • 1 - 3 years of direct experience in construction safety, preferably in vertical or civil construction environments.
  • OSHA 30 and First Aid/CPR certification required
  • Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926, NFPA standards, and industry best practices.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills; ability to prepare clear, concise safety reports.
  • Ability to identify hazards, recommend mitigation strategies, and engage field teams professionally.
  • Must reside in the DFW metroplex and be available to travel to multiple jobsites across the region.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital safety platforms (e.g., Procore Safety, BIM 360, SiteDocs , or equivalent softwares ) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and enforcing site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASP) and project safety procedures.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and hazard assessments; document findings and track corrective actions.
  • Support Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Pre-Task Plans (PTPs), and daily safety briefings with contractors.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and compliance with OSHA regulations and McKissack policies.
  • Assist with incident response, including root-cause investigations, documentation, and corrective action tracking.
  • Maintain accurate records such as training logs, inspection reports, equipment certifications, and OSHA documentation.
  • Provide on-site coaching to field personnel, reinforcing safe work practices and hazard mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in project progress meetings to report safety observations, metrics, and risk trends.
  • Support the development and delivery of safety training modules for project teams and trade partners.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture that emphasizes communication, accountability, and continuous improvement.
