About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Desert Hot Springs, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Desert Hot Springs, CA 25 hours per month, 3 session a week for 1 hour (AT) Pay range is between $25 and $35 Why Tutor Me Education? Requirements

  • Valid teaching credential required (Special Education strongly preferred)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • Fluent in American Sign Language (ASL) or strong familiarity with total communication strategies (highly preferred)
  • Extensive experience working with non-verbal students and individuals with developmental delays
  • Strong background in foundational literacy instruction at the pre-reading level (letter recognition, phonemic awareness, early vocabulary)
  • Experience supporting early writing skills, including fine motor development and alternative communication methods
  • Knowledge of foundational math instruction, including number recognition, counting, sorting, and one-to-one correspondence
  • Skilled in using visual supports, modeling, repetition, and hands-on/multisensory strategies
  • Patient, structured, and consistent, with the ability to provide frequent prompting and reinforcement
  • Experience implementing IEP-aligned instruction and collaborating with related service providers

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized, IEP-aligned instruction in foundational literacy, writing, and math at a kindergarten level
  • Deliver pre-reading instruction, including letter recognition, letter-sound awareness, matching, and vocabulary development
  • Support writing through tracing, copying, and development of fine motor skills, while incorporating alternative communication methods (e.g., pointing, picture selection, AAC as appropriate)
  • Teach foundational math concepts, including number recognition, counting, sorting, patterns, and one-to-one correspondence using manipulatives and real-life examples
  • Incorporate ASL, gestures, modeling, and total communication strategies to support comprehension and expression
  • Use visual schedules, structured routines, and repetition to promote consistency and retention
  • Implement sensory-aware pacing and provide frequent breaks and reinforcement as needed
  • Maintain a highly structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student responsiveness
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
