About The Position

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Coachella, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Coachella, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Coachella, CA Schedule: 18 hours a month, 4 sessions a week for 1 hour Pay range $25-$35 per hour

Requirements

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (required)
  • Experience working with students in special education settings
  • Strong background in foundational literacy skills, including letter recognition, phonemic awareness, sight words, reading fluency, and comprehension
  • Experience supporting foundational math skills, including number recognition, counting, number sense, basic addition and subtraction, and functional math
  • Knowledge of handwriting instruction and fine motor skill development
  • Skilled in delivering explicit, repetitive, and multi-sensory instruction
  • Patient, supportive, and able to maintain structured, consistent, and engaging sessions
  • Ability to incorporate student interests into lessons to increase motivation and engagement
  • Familiarity with IEPs and strategies used in speech and occupational therapy sessions

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including letter-sound correspondence, phonemic awareness, sight word recognition, early reading skills, and listening comprehension
  • Support reading fluency, comprehension, and expressive language development
  • Deliver targeted math instruction, including number recognition, counting, number sense, basic operations, and functional math activities
  • Provide guided handwriting support, including fine motor skill development, pencil grasp, letter formation, and handwriting mechanics
  • Break lessons into small, manageable steps with repeated practice and frequent checks for understanding
  • Utilize visual supports, modeling, and multi-sensory strategies to reinforce learning
  • Maintain a structured, predictable, and supportive learning environment
  • Implement strategies to reduce frustration and build independence
  • Incorporate student interests—such as music, dancing, singing, and baking—into lessons to support engagement and motivation
  • Monitor progress and adjust instruction to meet the student’s academic and developmental needs
  • Communicate regularly with caregivers regarding progress and strategies
