About The Position

The CAD Librarian (12-Month Temporary Assignment) will lead efforts to standardize, clean, and optimize the CAD/MCAD model library and metadata environment. This includes removing duplicates, enforcing CAD standards, correcting and enriching metadata (naming conventions, materials, finishes, revisions), and building a trusted “golden library.” This role will support documentation and metadata readiness for upcoming PDM upgrades and the planned PLM migration, partnering closely with engineering, design, and data management teams to ensure a stable and scalable CAD ecosystem. This is a 12-month temporary position designed to support critical data preparation and system transition initiatives. The role is hybrid, requiring onsite work three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or related technical field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3+ years’ experience managing CAD/MCAD libraries or engineering data governance.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (e.g., SOLIDWORKS, Creo, AutoCAD) and familiarity with library management and version control.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage large digital datasets.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work cross-functionally across engineering and data management teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PDM/PLM systems (e.g., Enterprise, Windchill, Teamcenter) and library migration projects.
  • Knowledge of CAD modelling standards, metadata governance, and digital asset management frameworks.
  • Proven ability to develop and enforce CAD standards and governance structures.
  • Analytical skills for building metrics and reports on data integrity and library health.

Responsibilities

  • Perform MCAD library cleanup and standardization to eliminate duplicates and enforce CAD standards.
  • Correct metadata such as naming conventions, finishes, materials, and revision blocks to build a 'golden library.'
  • Manage access, permissions, version control, and usage tracking for the approved library of CAD/MCAD models and components.
  • Collaborate with engineering and design teams to catalog global library items, identify reuse opportunities, and establish baseline metrics for duplication and library health.
  • Define, document, and implement CAD standards and metadata governance frameworks (finishes, hardware, materials, revision rules).
  • Prepare the CAD library for PLM migration: document standards, ensure metadata readiness, and align structures for PDM upgrade/PLM compatibility.
  • Develop and monitor library-health metrics and analytics to track data quality improvements, reuse, and migration readiness.
  • Serve as liaison between CAD/engineering teams, data governance, and PLM stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve library processes and maintain up-to-date governance documentation.
  • Must be comfortable driving process change and managing digital library governance in an evolving engineering environment.
