About The Position

SUMMARY: Responsible for ensuring that all accounting activities in the Cage Division of the Finance Department are performed accurately and efficiently, in accordance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations of the Gaming Commission, Federal and State Tax Commissions, and established policies, procedures and controls. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Develops implements and directs departmental procedures which enable the Cage Department to function more effectively. Maintains adequate staffing levels in the Cage by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, assisting with career development, promoting, disciplining and terminating employees, as needed. Ensures the integrity of all financial data produced by employees under his/her span of control. Monitors all financial activities on property, which relate to Cage, to ensure that all applicable laws, rules, regulations and controls of the property, the Federal and State Tax Commissions, and the Gaming Commission are enforced throughout the property. Creates and administers departmental operating budget and budget controls. Establishes production standards and goals, and regularly evaluates departmental progress, revising standards and goals as needed. Coordinates the audits of bank boards, guest deposits and rotation logs, ensuring appropriate coverage on each bank, develops and fine-tunes an effective system of checks and balances. Assists Cage Supervisors in understanding the complexities of certain responsibilities within the department. Reviews departmental reports, to ensure accuracy, making revisions as needed. Ensures a maximum level of property-wide service and satisfaction, with respect to the Cage and Finance. Facilitates the flow of information throughout the property, by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled meetings with all employees under his/her span of control. Held accountable, to a very high degree, for the accuracy and thoroughness of departmental records and reports. Encourages mutual respect, dignity and integrity with all employees, by setting positive examples at all times. Instills an atmosphere that encourages employees to share ideas, discuss concerns and resolve conflicts. Retains employees through involvement in employee training and development. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides support and leadership direction to individuals in the cage position in accordance with the organizational structure. 2. Held accountable, to a high degree, for maintaining accurate and thorough departmental records and reports. 3. Evaluates and makes decisions regarding customer disputes, and ensures assigned activities are in compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations and established controls. Develops and implements staff development plans for those employees who display the necessary skills, motivation and attitude to grow within the organization. 7. Ensures all employees within areas of responsibility receive fair and equitable treatment. 8. Maintains appropriate staffing levels in the Cage, by interviewing, selecting, training, scheduling, evaluating, promoting, disciplining and terminating employees, as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or related area from a four year college or university, or four to six years related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex of documents, such as technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.
  • Ability to write effective letters, memos, speeches and articles for publication.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from staff members at all levels, guests, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group, and large group settings.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management and public groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establishes facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Must be competent in computer skills.
  • Must have superior interpersonal relations skills.
  • Must have superior planning and organizational skills, ability to manage complex projects and investigations.
