About The Position

Purpose: The purpose of the coatings supervisor is to oversee the chemical vapor deposition process and process areas, ensure that we deliver value added coated glass to the cold end of the plant. Essential Functions: Supervises the daily Coating operations of both float lines Supervises the daily operations of hourly employees: assigns daily tasks, perform daily safety briefings, and audits work. Maintains daily records of process parameters and/or changes, and personnel records, process performance numbers, and daily maintenance activities. Trains employees in job responsibilities and work rules, including reviewing safety, quality, and process parameters/procedures. Manages the production of coated products in accordance with ISO-9000/ISO-14000/ISO-18000 standards. Manages and maintains efficient production through process and equipment trouble-shooting, raw material storage change-out and operation of hot and cold end thickness/color monitors Maintains required production supplies by writing purchase and stores requisition to acquire necessary equipment and supplies in a timely manner. Promotes Coating department adherence to Pilkington policies related to safety, health, environment, and working conditions to insure maximum safety of employees and surrounding community Conducts safety audits as required and holds crew meetings to keep hourly personnel informed as to plant and corporate goals, results, and plans. Performs special projects as assigned by Coatings Manager or other Production Management to improve quality and/or yield, reduce cost and improve training. Takes leadership role in employee involvement with process or procedural innovations and changes for department. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Computer and software proficiency – including strong knowledge of MS Office
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in teams, multi-task, and take leadership responsibility on projects.
  • Excellent Mechanical aptitude

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, Material Science or Industrial Engineering preferred
  • Previous Glass manufacturing experience
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Exposure to Six Sigma (Green Belt)
  • Advanced Problem-Solving Skills (Six Sigma)
  • Strong in analytical, innovative and strategic competencies
  • Practical experience in Batch plant and Furnace operations, Float Glass Forming, Annealing and/or online CVD coating is desired.
