About The Position

The Compliance Manager ensures that all affordable and compliance-reporting properties operate in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HUD, LURA, and other applicable programs. This role serves as the primary point of contact for onsite teams, executives, and external reporting agencies, providing guidance, oversight, and training to maintain compliance excellence. The Compliance Manager proactively monitors regulatory changes, implements best practices, and develops workflows and processes to ensure timely, accurate reporting and operational efficiency. This role is responsible for ensuring properties remain compliant with all program requirements and providing support to teams at risk of non-compliance. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in affordable housing compliance, HUD, LURA, or similar programs.
  • Experience managing projects and implementing compliance programs.
  • Strong understanding of affordable housing processes, compliance reporting, and regulatory agencies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build workflows, policies, and training documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management software systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Prior experience working with multiple properties and teams preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure properties maintain compliance with HUD, LURA, Local and other affordable housing regulations.
  • Monitor property inspections, including REAC and other agency-required audits, track results, and ensure corrective actions are completed within required timelines.
  • Manage and monitor reporting deadlines and agency submissions to ensure timely, accurate completion.
  • Ensure properties remain compliant with all program requirements and provide guidance and support to teams at risk of non-compliance.
  • Conduct weekly audits of compliance-required materials to maintain regulatory adherence.
  • Maintain and oversee tenant files, property records, and compliance documentation.
  • Prepare, review, and submit management agent applications and agency-required documentation.
  • Serve as the main compliance resource for onsite property teams, providing guidance and support.
  • Host training sessions, weekly calls, and workshops to ensure teams understand current regulations, policies, and processes.
  • Build, maintain, and document workflows, policies, and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with teams to implement automation and process improvements for efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor regulatory trends, industry updates, and legal changes affecting compliance programs.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline reporting, enhance compliance programs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external reporting agencies and internal executives regarding compliance matters.
  • Provide insights on compliance trends, potential risks, and areas for improvement.
  • Consolidate reports and communicate findings to executives and external stakeholders.
