We’re looking for a Copywriter / AI Editor who is ready to redefine how we communicate the future of lawn & garden. This role will be a primary driver of our Amazon business, merging linguistic excellence with the power of generative tools to deliver impactful, brand-aligned messaging on time, on budget and with excellence. This position is based at the Scotts Miracle-Gro world headquarters in Marysville, a suburb of Columbus, OH. Why This Role is Special: The Copywriter / AI Editor acts as the narrative engine of our internal creative studio. You won't just be "writing ads"; you will combine a high-taste level for brand-advancing prose with advanced AI tools to augment the human-driven creative process. While the primary focus of this role is driving our Amazon and e-commerce growth, you will also provide critical support for our Big Box retail partners. You will support our Creative Directors in evolving our iconic brands (Scotts, Miracle-Gro, Ortho, etc.) for a digital-first world. You’ll ensure that every piece of copy—across our DTC website, CRM channels, and retail partner e-commerce platforms—is both beautifully reflective of our brands at their best and strategically optimized for performance.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field.
  • Experience: 4–6 years of professional commercial copywriting experience, ideally on elite-scale brands. A strong portfolio demonstrating mastery of brand voice and, ideally, examples of AI-assisted content.
  • Tech Literacy: Mastery of standard professional writing tools and demonstrated experience incorporating Generative AI into the marketing creative process.
  • Editorial Intuition: The ability to take a complex strategic brief and transform it into a compelling, simple narrative that resonates with diverse consumer segments.
  • Adaptability: A "lifelong learner" mindset with the ability to pivot as AI technology and linguistic trends evolve daily.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A team player who can communicate creative concepts effectively and work cross-functionally with brand managers, marcom partners and designers.

Responsibilities

  • Narrative Storytelling & Ideation: Concept and write high-quality copy for digital programs and campaigns with a strategic focus on the Amazon customer journey.
  • Omnichannel Strategy & Execution: Ensure brand messaging remains cohesive across all touchpoints, adapting the tone and technical requirements to guide consumers through a unified story, regardless of device or medium
  • AI-Augmented Copywriting: Be a leader in continuing our progress of the integration of Generative AI into the writing workflow to accelerate drafting, versioning and the creation of hyper-personalized content.
  • Precision Editing & Fact-Checking: Act as an important line of defense, refining AI-generated drafts to ensure they meet our rigorous standards for brand voice, emotional resonance and category and technical accuracy.
  • Agile Iteration: Rapidly produce creative copy variants for personalization and A/B testing, partnering with the marcom channel owners, analytics partners and business units to optimize designs based on performance data.
  • Innovation Advocacy: Help drive cultural working change to advocate for both the incredible impact new technologies can have to creative and content, and the importance of the human element in the most performance-effective and brand building marketing.
