About The Position

The role of the Creative Arts and Digital Content Coordinator is to support the Arts program to plan and execute projects and programming that are in direct service to the Fortune community and to the wider NYC community of directly-impacted people, including those currently detained on Rikers Island. The Coordinator will serve as the point person for the creation and transmittal of digital content for people detained at Rikers related to substance misuse education, recovery, and reentry that will be uploaded to NYC Department of Corrections-issued tablets. The Coordinator will work directly with a production consultancy to generate and film such content, and will liaise with Fortune’s Behavioral Health team and, potentially, representatives from the NYC Department of Correction (DOC) to facilitate the dissemination of the content to people in DOC custody. The Coordinator will also facilitate art workshops and guide on- and off-site art projects and perform assigned administrative duties that may include, but not be limited to, program referrals, documenting attendance, promoting the overall program, and supporting special events/workshops.

  • Artistically inclined; a personal Arts practice is preferred
  • Comfortable with navigating sensitive topics with community members
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to manage time effectively, be a strong team player, remain flexible, and possess a willingness to work as part of a diverse team with shared responsibilities and accountability

Responsibilities

  • Present available Arts programming to community members and staff to encourage participation in the program
  • Develop, curate, and maintain a content-rich library of informative, uplifting materials related to substance misuse education, recovery, and reentry to be uploaded to NYC Department of Corrections' issued tablets provided to people in custody
  • Liaise, as needed, with representatives from the NYC DOC’s IT team and other DOC staff as needed to ensure that digital content has been properly uploaded to tablets
  • Coordinate with a film production consultancy to generate original tablet content
  • Facilitate, organize, guide and execute art workshops and projects at LIC, other Fortune locations and in external settings
  • Administrative responsibilities may include: input and respond to referrals in the program’s database, conduct participant outreach/follow-up, manage data entry, program incentives, program supplies and equipment, as well as participant engagement including documenting attendance
  • Contribute to brainstorming/ideation sessions on current/future programming and funding
  • Contribute to maintaining and developing key strategic partnerships with Artists and Arts organizations
  • Help to plan, promote, coordinate, and attend events on-and off-site including the annual Arts Festival in June
  • Attend staff meetings, weekly check-ins, trainings and conferences
  • Perform other duties as assigned
