About The Position

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is seeking an experienced candidate to fill the role of Crime Intelligence Analyst in the Cyber Crime Technology & Telecommunications Division. This position will combat the rapid increasing cyber fraud victimizing Floridians, including Florida’s elderly population.

Requirements

  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency.
  • Analytical experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or investigative experience in a law enforcement agency.
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for four years of experience.
  • A master’s degree in criminology, law enforcement intelligence analysis, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis or comparable discipline; or a professional certificate in one of these disciplines can substitute for one year of experience.
  • Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Fundamental computer operations including hardware, software applications, and electronic communications
  • Ability to maintain knowledge of current technology trends and techniques
  • Writing skills to clearly and factually present complex and interrelated information in investigative reports
  • Sufficient oral communication and personal skills to be able to deal effectively with employees in other government agencies, businesses, banks and the courts
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, and Acrobat
  • Understanding of differences between cryptocurrency tokens, wallets, and blockchains
  • Interest in conducting complex financial crimes investigations.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates demonstrating strong skills in critical thinking; analytical research and interpretation; developing and delivering presentations and training to internal FDLE members, as well as, other law enforcement agencies throughout Florida. Applicants should possess excellent multi-tasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting Cryptocurrency Tracing and documenting findings
  • Reviewing the large repository of complaint data
  • Researching current and anticipated future technology advances to assess potential impact on the investigation of technology crimes
  • Providing training and guidance to employees relevant to computer crime investigations and related topics
  • Providing assistance to citizens questions or concerns regarding computer crimes
  • Interviewing members of the public (victims, witnesses, and potential targets)
  • Participating in interviews conducted by Special Agents, when authorized by Special Agent Supervisor, regarding matters for which detailed understanding of technology issues are necessary
  • Working with outside law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies on a regular basis
  • Extracting pertinent entries from records examined and preparing concise summary of findings in various formats
  • Attending various law enforcement related association/unit meetings.
