About The Position

This position is in the Florida Intelligence Center’s 24/7 Intelligence Watch & Warning section within the Office of Statewide Intelligence. This is a full-time, essential position working closely with other crime intelligence analysts and supervision to provide tactical analytical assistance for criminal investigations and intelligence notifications to the FDLE, other state fusion centers, and federal, state, local, tribal and territorial government agencies. This position is responsible for answering phones, creating and disseminating correspondence, conducting facial recognition, monitoring security cameras, researching and triaging information for domestic security incidents, handling urgent threat to life notifications from INTERPOL, and analyzing suspicious activity reports received through the See Something, Say Something initiative. As an essential member, response during any and all natural or man-made disasters may be required, to include extended shifts or overnight stays. This position requires excellent customer service, multi-tasking, time management, and decision-making skills.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience in criminal intelligence, military intelligence, national or homeland security intelligence, crime analysis, or in a law enforcement agency can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
  • Any combination of education or experience, as described above.
  • Completion of a 720-hour program of study from a vocational/technical school or accredited community college in law enforcement can substitute for one year of the required education.
  • Knowledge of appropriate ways of dealing with individuals in crisis situations;
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic;
  • Ability to make decisions and function effectively in high-stress, emergency situations;
  • Ability to respond to the public in a calm, effective manner;
  • Ability to compile written reports and logs;
  • Ability to speak clearly and listen effectively;
  • Ability to coordinate and disseminate information;
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations;
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Compiling, analyzing, and disseminating information and intelligence from various agencies, the public, and other sources, and promotes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among law enforcement agencies;
  • Requesting, receiving, analyzing, and documenting information of a confidential nature;
  • Coordinating inter-state and intra-state information and intelligence pertaining to criminal activity and criminal movement, and exercises independent judgment to ensure that accurate and reliable information is disseminated to the proper authority;
  • Providing investigative support to squad(s) in a Regional Operations Center or field office for initial database searches on potential persons of interest or preliminary work for scenes that require FDLE response;
  • Reviewing material of a graphic violence or sexual nature as needed;
  • Monitoring multiple security cameras, building door swipes, and alarm notifications;
  • Responding to requests for investigative assistance from other law enforcement agencies;
  • Operating computers, programs, and other technical or electronic equipment when necessary, and maintains familiarity with all available programs applicable to analytical duties; and
  • Applying legal issues surrounding the analytic process including privacy, confidentiality, civil rights, and civil liberties protections within the intelligence cycle and products.
