About The Position

The Bryan County Board of Commissioners is now accepting applications for a Full Time Deputy Clerk of Court in the Clerk of Court Department. The purpose of this classification is to receive, record, and file court-related public documents and records, to schedule cases and pull case files and materials for presiding Judge, and to assist the public file documents, issue warrants, and/or obtain information. The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Scan images and enters traffic citations and warrants from Georgia State Patrol, Bryan County Sheriff’s Departments, local City police departments and various other agencies; records dispositions on each traffic citation; types dispositions for Court Mandated Cases not put on probation; enters dispositions into computer. Transmit dispositions electronically. Issues subpoenas to law enforcement officers; orders criminal histories from Sheriff’s Department; separates and files criminal histories; issues bench warrants; issues protective orders for domestic violence cases; make photocopies for various agencies and distribute to said agencies. Attends various court hearings periodically; prepares defendant notices for all postponed cases; prepares and assigns numbers to disposed case files. Type and process warrants, claims, dispossessories, foreclosures, and other actions; photocopies and forwards to appropriate department; types various departmental correspondence. Collects and deposits fines, forfeitures, partial payments, cash bonds, and filing fees. Assists the general public to locate documents, tickets, deeds, and plats; assists the general public by providing information, answering inquiries, taking requests, and redirecting course of action. Maintains computerized files of trial and grand jurors; issues and mails jury checks and witness checks; processes notary applications, issues notary as approved, and processes passport applications. Performs other clerical and administrative duties such as maintaining and updating various files, assigning case numbers, issuing receipts, compiling assorted reports, answering incoming telephone calls, photocopying documents for the general public, and assisting with preparing calendars. Pick up daily mail from post office, open and distribute to individual divisions within the Department. Receive, check, stamp file, scan images and enter all real estate related documents; make photocopies for real estate related docket books and tax assessor office; transmit index and images electronically. Punctuality and attendance are essential. Performs other related duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or GED) required
  • One year of clerical or customer service experience preferably in a court services, or legal environment or a related field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job
