The Arlington County Treasurer’s Office is accepting applications for the following part-time/seasonal employment opportunity: DEPUTY FOR SEIZURES . Candidates for this position must be available to work up to forty hours per week during the peak season from January to July and be flexible with a variable work schedule. The Enforcement Specialist will perform field work and collect delinquent payments by executing Seizure/Distress Warrants under the authority of the Arlington County Treasurer. The goal of these activities is to collect delinquent taxes and other debt owed to Arlington County, which reduces the delinquency rate of the County. Responsibilities Major Job Duties: Conducting seizures of vehicles and other property outside of normal business hours; Interacting with taxpayers in the field to communicate liability and explain the reason(s) for seizure; Operating a County vehicle and assisting with the Tag Reader Program (LPR camera); Performing taxpayer visits as determined by the Compliance Deputy or Enforcement Supervisor; and Participating with the Enforcement Team to execute levies and seizures. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking and effective communication skills in order to communicate directly with customers, co-workers, and management. They will also have high energy, self-motivation, a sense of urgency, and coachability, as well as the ability to elicit, understand, and advocate for customer needs. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Completion of the requirements for graduation from a standard senior high school or vocational school, a GED certificate, or the equivalent; Considerable experience in collections, law enforcement, and/or public administration; and Must possess a valid Driver’s License and safe driving record. Substitution(s): Additional education may be substituted for experience. Desirable Qualifications: Preference may be given to applicants with one or more of the following: Experience in law enforcement; Experience in the collection of delinquent local government revenue; and/or Experience serving Summonses or Warrants. Special Requirements Background Check: A pre-employment criminal records check will be conducted. It will include checks of the following: criminal record, driving record, education, professional licensure, and credit history. You will be required to sign a release authorizing the County to obtain your background information. Driver's License: Applicant must possess, or obtain by time of appointment, a valid driver’s license, and must provide or authorize Arlington County to obtain a copy of official driving record. Any offer of employment may be contingent upon favorable review of the applicant’s driving record. Alternatively, the applicant must have the ability and willingness to use alternative methods of transportation to perform assigned duties and responsibilities at locations other than the primary worksite.
