About The Position

The Arlington County Treasurer’s Office is seeking a Treasury Section Coordinator II – MIB Supervisor . The Treasury Section Coordinator II is the Subject Matter Expert for all functions of the Management Information and Billing (MIB) team and oversees the work of five full-time staff members with multiple job classifications and varying levels of responsibility and expertise. Work assigned is diverse, complex, and has a direct financial impact on the timely receipt of County tax revenues. This work includes training, research, analytics/reporting, problem resolution, file verification, system improvements, billing, mail production, and the accurate application of payments from multiple sources. This Coordinator implements directives and monitors adherence by staff. The Coordinator must be able to work independently with little oversight and take the initiative to resolve problems and improve efficiencies. Responsibilities Major Job Duties:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration or other field directly related to program area
  • Considerable experience in public administration and general research in public policy, or experience directly related to project or program area
  • Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the education requirement, and additional education may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience monitoring the work of professional and clerical staff
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite or similar software

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the daily operations of staff, including prioritizing the daily workload and ensuring adequate coverage for customer contact (phones and email), ensuring all critical deadlines are communicated and met, and reviewing samples of staff work product for accuracy and quality
  • Investigating any issues with overnight processes to the tax system or General Ledger
  • Researching and resolving customer or account problems escalated by staff and assigning/processing any activity outside of routine daily processing
  • Preparing reports as needed for the Treasurer, County Board, Department of Management & Finance and other county agencies
  • Serving as the primary Subject Matter Expert for the Management Information and Billing team, investigating issues escalated by staff, and recommending system or process improvements to division management as appropriate
  • Writing requirements for and prioritizing system corrections and enhancements; developing test scenarios, conducting and assigning thorough system testing, and identifying additional resources as needed
  • Contributing to the development of the annual tax calendar related to assessment posting, billing, and notifications.
