About The Position

The Design Engineer II is responsible for engineering initiatives related to product design of precast structures, including manholes, wastewater and box culverts, and provide technical support to internal and external customers. Provide expertise knowledge on general building construction and regulatory requirements, as well as DOT standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Mechanical, Civil, Manufacturing or similar degree such as Concrete Industry Management
  • 2 years' experience in construction or precast design
  • Proficient in the use of design software (Solid Works, Revit, Inventor 3D, AutoCAD 2D)
  • Professional level understanding of drafting standards & principles
  • Advanced with Microsoft Excel (formulas, hyperlinks, sorting and searching data)
  • Must be capable of working with minimal supervision
  • Intermediate knowledge of mathematical concepts (calculate volumes, load calculations, metric equivalents, drawing scales) and ability to calculate by hand and other tools
  • Must be detail oriented
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of precast concrete design
  • Desire to continue to grow and develop
  • Ability to travel to project locations as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Project Management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for designing precast structures to meet customer specifications and provide complete drawing package to Operations for production.
  • Provide technical support to outside sales team with specifications, drawing criteria and solution recommendations for customer quotes.
  • Perform manual calculations required to design MEP systems.
  • Create submittal packages, proposal drawings and production drawing sets.
  • Produce BOM from manufacturing instructions and drawings.
  • Provide quality review of prepared drawings for project management team prior to submittal to sales and operations.
  • Provide technical support to project managers for order submittal packages.
  • Collaborate with Quality Control Department in understanding specifications.
  • Provide and implement continual improvement suggestions using software automation and streamlining of processes to reduce time, errors and costs when designing drawings and submittal packages.
  • Other duties as assigned.
