In this role, you will get hands-on experience in a corporate IT environment, focusing on delivering world-class customer service to our employees.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently pursuing an Associate's degree or higher in IT, Computer Science, or a related field (or recent completion of a technical certification program).
  • Internship Dates: You must be available to work 40 hours/week for the full duration of the internship program as outlined in the cohort dates below. Limited exceptions may be granted. Viasat offers two options based on semester and quarter academic calendars: Cohort 1: May 18, 2026 – August 14, 2026 Cohort 2: June 22, 2026 – September 18, 2026
  • Technical Basics: A fundamental understanding of how computers work (familiarity with Windows 10/11 and basic computer hardware).
  • Customer Focus: A strong desire to help others and the ability to communicate clearly and politely with non-technical users.
  • Hands-on Attitude: Willingness to perform physical tasks such as moving computer monitors, plugging in cables, and organizing equipment.
  • Availability: Ability to work on-site between 8 AM and 5 PM (schedule can be flexible based on school requirements).
  • Citizenship: US citizenship required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service experience (retail, food service, etc.).
  • Experience building your own PC or troubleshooting family/friend’s computer issues.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A curiosity to learn about enterprise technology (like Active Directory, ticketing systems, or networking) in a real-world setting.

Responsibilities

  • Tech Lounge Support: Serve as the first point of contact at our walk-up IT Tech Lounge, assisting employees with basic questions, accessory requests, and troubleshooting.
  • Office Setups: Assist with setting up workstations for new hires and office moves, ensuring monitors, docks, and peripherals are connected and ready to use.
  • Hardware & Inventory: Help organize and inventory IT assets, including receiving shipments, tagging equipment, and keeping storage areas tidy.
  • Basic Troubleshooting: Work alongside experienced technicians to learn how to diagnose and resolve common hardware and software issues on Windows and Mac systems.
  • Customer Service: Provide friendly and prompt updates to end-users on the status of their requests.
