The Digital & Automation Engineer plays a key role in enabling high-performance, digitally connected manufacturing operations. This position leads the design and execution of control strategies, automation solutions, and plant-level network administration while collaborating across global engineering and Digital 4IR teams. Serving as a technical authority on complex projects, this position supports the organization’s effort to build a robust, future-ready automation environment. Proactively seeks the most challenging automation opportunities to advance the “Factory of the Future” vision.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of controls theory, automation technologies, and intelligent system integration to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Mechanical, Automation, or a related technical field or a minimum of 7 years of experience in automation, controls engineering or related discipline.
  • Proficiency with control and automation systems including Continuous/Batch Control, Instrumentation, ControlLogix PLCs, SCADA, Motion Control, Vision Systems, Networks, Drives, Sensors, Virtualized server environments, and Packaging/Robotics; familiarity with relevant codes and standards.
  • Passion for advancing Digital Manufacturing through Industry 4.0 technologies, data, and analytics.
  • Understanding of manufacturing methodologies, change control, validation processes, and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to define business problems and set priorities.
  • Expertise in designing and implementing complex automation solutions.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing technologies and requirements.
  • Ability to work independently with strong accountability and follow-through.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements control strategies for manufacturing processes to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Collaborates effectively across global engineering teams and Digital 4IR organizations.
  • Develops, implements, and administers an exceptional plant-level controls network.
  • Serves as the automation and controls authority on project teams, contributing to project completion, managing personal timelines, developing project plans, and leading assigned projects.
  • Engineers and delivers in-house automation solutions or partners with third-party providers to meet business needs with reliable systems.
  • Supports compliance with automation programming software for the facility, including Rockwell Software, Siemens, Network Management, IT/OT requirements, and corporate guidelines.
  • Participates in site and network-wide teams to provide cybersecurity alignment and direction.
  • Performs performance analysis and troubleshooting of existing control systems, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing solutions.
  • Works with the Automation and Controls Manager to develop and maintain best practices.
  • Ensures all automation systems comply with industry standards and regulations while promoting a culture of safety in all engineering practices.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned by Manager.
