About The Position

As the Director of IT, you are the architect and hands-on driver of our internal technology operations. Your mission is to build secure, efficient, and frictionless systems for our distributed workforce. This is a "player-coach" role: we need a leader who can design a long-term roadmap while staying deeply involved in the day-to-day execution. Building on our existing foundation, you will partner with our Sr. Manager to divide the workload, resolve complex technical roadblocks, and establish clear operational priorities. You aren't just overseeing a department; you are refining the function to ensure our infrastructure scales as fast as our team does. You collaborate with Security, Finance, and People teams to enforce policies and streamline operations that enable scale without compromising control. Whether you’re provisioning tools, optimizing vendor contracts, troubleshooting issues, or automating internal workflows, you approach every challenge with a balance of strategic oversight and hands-on action. You thrive in dynamic, remote-first environments. You know how to reduce complexity through clarity, elevate the employee experience through operational excellence, and drive continuous improvements that make a lasting impact across the organization.

Requirements

  • Strategic IT Expertise: 7+ years of experience in IT operations or systems administration, with a demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end IT functions in distributed environments.
  • Technical Know-How: Deep knowledge of IAM/IdP platforms, SaaS ecosystems, and Okta administration. Proficiency in IT security, OS policy enforcement, MDM, and endpoint protection tools like SentinelOne.
  • Operational Excellence: A strong process orientation with the ability to document, automate, and improve internal workflows. You bring strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills that help reduce friction and increase value.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and confident communication across technical and non-technical audiences. You keep stakeholders informed, set expectations, and collaborate with empathy and clarity.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Experience working cross-functionally in remote, globally distributed teams. You align with internal partners, contribute to shared goals, and foster a positive, solutions-oriented dynamic.
  • Employee-Centered Support: A hands-on approach to IT support with a focus on enabling and empowering end users. You ensure systems and policies enhance—not hinder—the employee experience.
  • Continuous Improvement: Always looking for ways to improve tooling, policy, or process. You proactively identify inefficiencies and turn them into scalable, sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Infrastructure & Access Management: Serve as the main point of contact for all IT access, tools, and asset-related matters. Collaborate with Security to enforce OS and security policies, manage IAM/IdP operations, and resolve access issues like password resets and lockouts. Continuously improve onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Tool & Application Administration: Ensure tools are integrated with Okta when possible. Handle provisioning and deprovisioning, including exceptional access requests, and ensure compliance with internal policies.
  • Access Reviews & Optimization: Conduct regular audits of tool usage, validate user assignments, and manage renewal dates. Right-size licenses and collaborate with Finance on contract updates.
  • Internal Tools Ownership: Maintain and streamline administration of Vault, Async, Slack, Okta, Google Workspace, Office365, GitLab, Discord, and other internal corporate systems. Clarify tool ownership and support internal tool governance.
  • End-User Support: Manage physical hardware logistics and provide support throughout the asset lifecycle. Define policies for refresh cycles, supported devices, and OS standards. Operate an internal help desk and offer hands-on troubleshooting for tool, OS, and encryption issues.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure device compliance with SentinelOne and MDM policies in partnership with Security. Support secure and consistent device provisioning across the organization.
  • Automation & Workflow Improvement: Partner with internal teams to reduce manual processes and build automations that support user lifecycle and vendor account management. Maintain systems like Access-Provisioner, Google-GitLab-Sync, and Slack Channel Manager.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with People, Security, and Finance teams to align on workflows, tooling decisions, and process improvements. Bridge technical implementation with operational needs to drive shared outcomes.
  • Procurement & Vendor Management: Oversee IT and SaaS vendors, manage renewals and budgets, and ensure tools are used at appropriate tiers for maximum value.
