About The Position

Working as a member of the leadership team and in strategic support of the Honolulu Museum of Art’s mission, vision, and values, The Director of Campus Operations is responsible for the care and management of HoMA’s buildings and grounds, including two historic properties. Balancing short-term needs and long-term operational goals, the Director of Campus Operations sets priorities for facilities management and ensures that all areas of HoMA are well-maintained, safe, secure, and effectively managed. Opened in 1927, the Honolulu Museum of Art is a home for art and education created for the benefit of the entire community. Founder Anna Rice Cooke envisioned a museum that would bring people together through the power of art and “the deep intuitions that are common to all.” The museum was conceived of as a place of meaningful exchange and dialogue, celebrating the diverse artistic and cultural traditions of Hawai‘i’s multi-ethnic population. From this founding intention grew the museum of today, with a world-class encyclopedic collection of more than 55,000 works of art, representing a stunning breadth of places and eras, from all corners of the globe and from the ancient past to the present day. HoMA’s campus is in Honolulu’s cultural district and includes two historic structures totaling 170,000 sf. The original landmark museum was designed by noted architect Bertram Goodhue (LA Central Library, West Point) and is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings. The campus includes 40,000 sf of galleries, a 280-seat theater, a full restaurant, climate-controlled art storage, and multiple landscaped courtyards and covered colonnades.
