Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Director of Policing Initiatives for the Miller Center on Policing and Community Resilience. The mission of the Miller Center on Policing and Community Resilience (the Center) is to strengthen the safety, resilience, and standing of vulnerable communities by improving trust-based relationships with law enforcement, government agencies, and other at-risk communities. The Center operates in sensitive public safety environments, both domestically and internationally, deploying experts on the ground to support communities and institutions confronting complex security challenges. Through research, training, and operational engagement, the Center identifies, develops, and shares best practices in democratic policing, emphasizing accountability, dialogue, and community partnership. The Center also monitors, analyzes, and calls attention to extremism, hate speech, and targeted violence—particularly as these threats proliferate across social media platforms and manifest in real-world harm—while equipping public safety leaders with practical tools to prevent violence and protect democratic societies.
