The Role As the Fullsize Truck (FST) Energy Technical Lead Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for leading the development of technical solutions to meet vehicle, architectural, and corporate requirements. You will lead and coordinate FST Energy strategy across Performance disciplines and across multiple leadership levels within the Performance, Program Management, Certification, and Brand/Marketing spaces. You will ensure FST vehicle programs meet required deliverables throughout the development process including final certification. You will contribute to overall Vehicle Performance organizational agility and operational improvements and will mentor Energy engineers within and outside your direct team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Applied Physics, or related degree.
  • 10 years of engineering experience in related field, 5 of which are Energy execution experience that demonstrates foundational understanding of Energy physics and execution.
  • Strong initiative, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organization skills to coordinate requirements, strategy, and execution across a highly complex architecture.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals across disciplines and all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with core virtual Energy analysis and execution tools.
  • This position requires the ability to operate a vehicle on a regular basis and successfully complete a Motor Vehicle Report review.
  • Ability to travel as required (expect < 15% of time).

Responsibilities

  • Lead Team of highly capable Energy engineers to develop and execute FST Truck Energy standard work.
  • Develop program requirements and define required technology, content, and portfolio strategy to enable corporate efficiency targets.
  • Coordinate Energy execution across disciplines to ensure vehicle components and systems enable requirements – Aero, Mass, Powertrain Calibration, Tires, Charge and Dyno/Cert Mode Feature Integration.
  • Develop and execute work plans to certify vehicles on time to meet all applicable regulatory requirements for US domestic and international regions of sale.
  • As required for workload balance, execute directly testing, analysis, and issue root cause work.
  • Coordinate and support program strategy, process, and virtual tool development with the GM Product Efficiency Center.
  • Coordinate development and certification test plans and execution regularly with GM’s Certification and Compliance organization.
  • Communicate and collaborate strategy and status regularly with Performance and Program Leadership, Program Management, and Brand/Marketing Teams.
  • Mentor existing and new Energy engineers within FST and the broader Vehicle Performance organization in both informal and formal settings – 1:1 consulting, intermediate/group guidance, and organization-wide training.
  • Enable virtual tool development, create/refine process improvement opportunities, and support deployment and usage of both to increase efficiency of Energy execution work.
