About The Position

This professionally minded individual will have direct oversight for several signature leadership programs and activities at Mercer including Mercer Leadership Fellows, Mercer’s annual leadership awards, student leadership workshops, and student organization workshops. This individual will also be given duties in a variety of campus life areas, including student programming, community engagement, and fraternity and sorority programs. This individual must be available on some evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Beginning their 1st year in the Higher Education Leadership program or Business Administration program on the Macon campus.
  • Have experience as an undergraduate student in campus life.
  • Ideal candidates will have held leadership positions within student leadership organizations on campus.
  • Possess a desire to work with Mercer undergraduates to develop leadership skills and knowledge.
  • Extremely organized and possess excellent time management skills.
  • Enthusiasm, creativity, self-motivation and flexibility.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in group settings with various Mercer constituencies.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and implementation of campus-wide leadership programs throughout the year, most notably the leadership awards banquet.
  • Coordinate student organization management and training.
  • Manage new student organizations from first contact to SGA approval, and beyond.
  • Facilitate the Mercer’s first-year leadership program, Mercer Leadership Fellows.
  • Assist with all major Campus Life events including, Bear Fair, Be a Good Neighbear, Family Weekend, Homecoming and Bearstock.
  • Assist with budget development, event planning and student advising.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • This position will include a tuition wavier for nine credit hours a semester and a bi-weekly stipend.
  • The position does come with an option to live on campus and work with The Office of Housing and Residence Life in a graduate on call rotation.
