About The Position

Operations Assistants (OAs) are responsible for supporting the logistic and administrative operations of the Center for Campus Life. This is a full academic-year position and includes working hours during new student orientation and welcome week. The Berklee community depends on this position’s ability to serve as a positive, constructive contributor to the behind-the-scenes facilitation of Campus Life initiatives.

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN).
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable.
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply.
  • In good disciplinary standing.
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Current undergraduate student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

  • To be eligible for consideration, applicants must attend one of the scheduled Student Leader Information Sessions.
  • Student Leaders will work two weeks between Friday, August 14, 2026 (tentative) for training through orientation which concludes on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
  • Student Leaders will work approximately up to 30 hours each week.
  • Student Leaders are expected to be available for the entirety of training and orientation week.
  • Additionally, students are not permitted to work additional on or off-campus jobs during this time.

Responsibilities

  • Work throughout the semester part-time (2-7 hours per week) or full-time (10-15 hours per week)
  • Serve as Orientation Operations Assistants for fall and spring orientation (more details below)
  • Attend biweekly campus life staff meetings
  • Staff the desk at the Center for Campus Life, completing tasks including but not limited to:
  • Greet guests and provide them with excellent customer service
  • Monitor, organize, and forward phone calls and emails
  • Checking out of equipment
  • Serving as support around processes including the selling of movie tickets, transactions of MBTA commuter passes, locker rentals, etc.
  • Supporting with space reservations for programs, events, and club meetings
  • Upkeep of communal spaces (lounges, printer rooms, conference rooms, etc.) and keeping those spaces neat and presentable
  • Maintaining storage areas and keeping inventory
  • Retrieving mail for the department from the mail room on a regular basis
  • Administrative work related to printing, purchase cards, hanging of flyers, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • OAs will work three weeks between Friday, August 16, 2024 (tentative) for training through orientation and welcome week which conclude on Friday, September 6.
  • During training and orientation, OAs will work approximately 30 hours each week.
  • OAs are expected to be available for the entirety of training and orientation week, and they are expected to be available for Welcome Week apart from scheduled classes.
  • Supporting the operations of new student orientation and welcome week events, including set up, break down, and collection and organization of supplies
  • Have a working knowledge of Berklee’s facilities, services, and resources
  • Creating event planning documents to ensure a smooth planning and execution of orientation and welcome week events
  • Supporting the transition between sessions, including any set up and breakdown required by the presenters
  • Confirming the accessibility and set up of various rooms and locations for programs and events
  • Promotion of campus life orientation and welcome week events through social media and marketing
  • Responding to emails that come into Campus Life events during training, orientation, and welcome week
