About The Position

Under the direction of the vice president of strategy and the business development manager, the grant development consultant is responsible for understanding funding opportunity gaps, researching prospective grants from foundations and other philanthropic organizations, writing compelling grant proposals to acquire funding, working with our leadership team to ensure sustainable funding sources, and reporting to funders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Excellent comprehension and writing skills
  • Minimum of three years of professional-level experience related to grant proposal writing and research
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams)
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English, both written and orally
  • Knowledge of education, early care and learning, or related industry
  • Strong research abilities
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Operational and fiscal analysis
  • Advanced knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertaining to philanthropic contracts and grants
  • Expertise in investigating and analyzing problems with a broad impact and implications
  • Proven track record in grant writing
  • California driver’s license, available use of an automobile, and automobile liability insurance

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Conducting initial and periodic review of upcoming foundation-based/philanthropic funding opportunities for eligibility, sustainability, and organizational alignment;
  • Preparing three to five well-researched grant applications on a monthly basis and supporting documentation in compliance with funding requirements;
  • Coordinating with executive leadership and department administrators to identify organization projects that are compatible with available funding sources;
  • Tracking the status of grant applications and providing additional information as required;
  • Working with appropriate personnel to expedite internal processing of grant proposals, including assessing internal and external data, developing grant budgets, and building compelling narratives;
  • Working with internal departments to create and distribute reports, studies, summaries, and analyses as part of awarded-grant compliance.
