About The Position

St. David’s School is seeking an organized, visionary, and student-centered Head of Library to lead our school library program for the 2026–2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about literacy, research skills, and fostering a love of reading across all grade levels. This full-time, benefits‑eligible position oversees the daily operations of the library, manages library resources, and provides instruction to groups of students ranging from early childhood through upper school. This position will have one direct report. Candidates should bring strong leadership skills, enthusiasm for working with students of varying ages, and a commitment to cultivating a Christ-centered learning environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working in a school library or educational setting.
  • Ability to teach and engage students across multiple age ranges.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency with library management systems, digital tools, and current media resources.
  • Commitment to fostering a Christ‑centered environment and building positive relationships with students and faculty.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's currently in an MLIS or Currently enrolled in an MLIS program is required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the school library, ensuring a welcoming, organized, and engaging environment.
  • Teach library, research, and digital literacy lessons to students across a range of ages (PreK–12).
  • Collaborate with faculty to support curriculum needs through curated resources, research instruction, and co‑teaching opportunities.
  • Develop programming that promotes reading, inquiry, and a love of literature.
  • Manage library materials, including selection, acquisition, cataloging, and inventory of books and digital resources.
  • Provide guidance to students on research methods, responsible technology use, and media literacy.
  • Maintain library schedules, supervise student use of the space, and coordinate volunteer or support staff when applicable.
  • Lead library events such as book fairs, author visits, reading challenges, or community literacy initiatives.
  • Uphold and model the school’s Christian mission, including integrating faith and character development into library interactions when appropriate.
  • Contribute to schoolwide initiatives, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities.
