Health Care Technician II (Peer Support Specialist) - Cherry Hospital

About The Position

This position is responsible for facilitating groups such as Peer Support and formal Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) classes within the treatment mall program. It also provides 1:1 peer support intervention for individual patients as requested by the treatment team. The individual in this position serves as members of the hospital's Hope & Wellness Center Design Team and a variety of other hospital committees and work groups as needed as well as participation in Treatment Team meetings.

Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and one year of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation.
As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of mental health and/or substance use recovery principles, trauma-informed care, crisis intervention strategies, and person-centered approaches.
Ability to facilitate peer support groups, advocate for peers, and assist individuals in navigating healthcare and social service systems.
Ability to communicate both written and verbally.
