About The Position

The Human Resource Generalist runs the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring, interviewing, pay and benefits administration, and policy enforcement. This role provides administrative support to the HR function and office management while serving as the lead for HR operational efficiency. By maximizing HR technology and maintaining an accessible resource infrastructure, this role ensures seamless experience for staff and managers.

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to identify manual processes and suggest automated or self-service alternatives.
  • Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now with a focus on workflow automation.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Working understanding of human resource principles, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to handle sensitive employee matters with objectivity and professionalism
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Knowledge and understanding of FMLA and FLSA regulations and HR laws generally.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • At least two to three years of human resource experience.

Nice To Haves

  • aPHR, PHR or SHRM-CP credential preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Executes routine tasks required to administer HR programs (compensation, benefits, leave, health/safety) and provides logistical support for performance reviews, training, and rewards programs.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for staff inquiries regarding payroll and policy. Acts as the ADP WFN power-user, resolving queries by optimizing HRIS workflows and maintaining internal knowledge bases.
  • Manages recruitment operations (postings, scheduling, background checks) and leads new hire orientation, ensuring accurate completion of I-9s and multi-state registrations.
  • Partners with Accounting and IT to reconcile payroll/PTO data and resolve technical hurdles for staff to ensure seamless internal workflows.
  • Serves as the main point of contact for external partners (insurance brokers/providers), managing routine inquiries and escalating complex plan issues for timely resolution.
  • Drafts and distributes HR-related communications, including policy changes, organizational updates, or employee news to ensure consistent application, transparency, and engagement across the Institute.
  • Assists the HR Director in documenting disciplinary meetings and investigations, maintaining strategic neutrality and objective intake for personnel matters.
  • Maintains knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as industry trends regarding hybrid/remote work models, culture, and operational efficiency.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Maintains office efficiency by managing kitchen/office supplies, mail distribution, and equipment operations as needed.
  • Acts as the main point of contact for building personnel, document storage facilities, and equipment service providers.
