About The Position

The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS), formed in 1836, is an agency in Kentucky’s Tourism, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet. The KHS campus has three sites in historic downtown Frankfort: The Old State Capitol; the Kentucky Military History Museum; and the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History serving as KHS headquarters with a signature museum, exhibits, library, research facilities, object and archival collections, museum store, and more. KHS is a Smithsonian Affiliate and has American Alliance of Museums accreditation. To learn more about the Kentucky Historical Society, please visit https://history.ky.gov The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) seeks a Human Resources Administrator who works to fulfill the KHS mission and contributes to making KHS a thriving workplace environment. This position provides professional and technical advice to KHS leadership and works with KHS staff for all employment processes in human resource and payroll administration, including the interpretation and application of state statutes and regulations and federal labor laws. This position is the first point of contact for new hire onboarding and assists employees in having a successful and enriching work experience at KHS. This is a full-time position located in Frankfort, KY that reports to the Deputy Director. This is an unclassified (non-merit) position pursuant to KRS 18A.115(1)(u). The annual salary for this position is $50,146.72 with a 5% increase following the successful completion of a probationary period. Requirements

  • Minimum of associate’s degree in human resources management, business, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in human resources, payroll, benefits processing, or related field preferred.
  • Successful Kentucky state government human resource generalist (HRG) training certification must be undertaken if not already obtained.

Responsibilities

  • Foster a thriving workplace through professional development, support, and recognition of employees.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for future team members.
  • Oversee the personnel processes for KHS such as preparing position descriptions, processing personnel actions, and updating KHS employee handbook.
  • Manage the semi-monthly payroll reconciliation.
