HR Manager- HR & Compliance

YMCABirmingham, AL
1d$61,600 - $65,500

About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Birmingham is looking for an HR Manager who gets excited about solving problems, building systems, and making work easier for others. This isn't your typical HR administrator job. It's a role where you'll have real autonomy to identify what's broken, create solutions, and watch your work directly impact our staff and the communities we serve. You'll lead day-to-day HR operations and take ownership of compliance tracking across our association. You'll supervise our HR Generalist, manage benefits and leave administration, support our hiring managers, and build the processes that help this organization run smoothly. If you're someone who takes initiative and wants to grow, we'll give you room to expand into as much as you're ready to take on. What Makes This Role Special This job has variety. You'll work across HR operations, compliance, benefits, talent acquisition, and more. No two days look the same, and you'll see the real impact of your work; when you create a system that works, it frees up our frontline staff to do what they do best: change lives in our community. We need someone who thinks like an investigator. Your job isn't to wait for problems to be handed to you; it's to go find inefficiencies, figure out what's not working, and make it better. And here's the important part: you have to be okay when your "perfect system" doesn't work. We need someone who can take feedback, pivot, and try again until it actually solves the problem. At the Y, we strengthen communities and build community FOR ALL. The work you do in HR directly supports our teams who are serving children, families, and our entire community. You get to feel that impact, even from an office role.
