About The Position

Direct the repair, optimization, and preventative maintenance of injection molding automation systems, including robots, downstream automation, sensors, and auxiliary automated equipment.

Requirements

  • Ability to read automation schematics, blueprints, electrical diagrams, and mechanical drawings.
  • Equipment-specific knowledge of robotic, electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical automation systems.
  • Dependable and motivated with a strong work history.
  • Accepts responsibility for work performed and decisions made.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Good computer skills, including equipment interfaces and basic controls navigation.
  • Must be able to work around grease, oils, and solvents without adverse reactions.
  • Able to work in a production environment and recognize various machine and automation alarms.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds overhead.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to waist.

  • Ability to climb up and down ladders.
  • Must be able to stand, walk bend or stoop through an entire shift.
  • Good manual dexterity of arms and fingers.
  • Must have 20/20 vision with correction and must be able to differentiate color.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a front-line leader for the Automation Department.
  • Direct troubleshooting and repair of robots, automation cells, end-of-arm tooling, and automated molded-part handling systems.
  • Investigate and implement corrective actions for automation issues that negatively affect uptime, cycle efficiency, MEEF, and scrap.
  • Stay current on production priorities and communicate changes to the Automation team.
  • Communicate relevant information to departmental personnel as needed.
  • Seek training for continuous improvement of automation and controls knowledge.
  • Assist team members in identifying and receiving appropriate technical training.
  • Motivate personnel to develop improvements in automation reliability and efficiency.
  • Facilitate administrative communication and training opportunities for the Automation Department.
  • Assume control of equipment when a situation arises that has the potential for personal injury or rapid deterioration of automated systems.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy work environment and lead automation safety efforts.
  • Address personnel issues and coach employees for development and future growth.
  • Maintain and enforce all HAACP, GMP, and Safety rules and guidelines.
