About The Position

The Mechanical Engineering Intern will support the design, drafting, prototyping, and implementation of production line testing fixtures and related mechanical components. Interns will work closely with experienced Mechanical Engineers to learn industry best practices and contribute to low-complexity design tasks.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • Exposure to or interest in 3D and 2D CAD software such as Inventor, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks
  • Basic understanding of mechanical concepts such as tolerances, fits, and materials
  • Interest in designing or building testing fixtures for pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, or vision applications
  • Willingness to learn machine shop processes and fabrication considerations
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Assist in designing and modifying low-complexity 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools
  • Help create, prototype, and document components used in production line testing fixtures
  • Follow established best practices in drafting, design safety, and engineering documentation
  • Support engineering reviews by preparing drawings, updating documentation, or collecting data
  • Assist with machine shop follow-up tasks such as verifying manufacturability
  • Participate in troubleshooting or improvement activities for fixtures and mechanical components
  • Perform basic measurement, fit checks, and hands-on testing with guidance
