TRUMPF is seeking candidates for an internship in the Internal Logistics Department in our Farmington, CT location. This internship will provide a college-level student with practical and professional experience that will enhance and compliment their classroom learning. Internship will be on-site from May 2026 - December 2026. Intern will work 40hours a week for the May-August duration and at least 25+ hours from September -December.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Data Analytics, or a related field
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with data and translate findings into actionable insights
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Must be a student enrolled in an accredited university or institution pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or experience related to logistics, warehousing, or manufacturing operations
  • Familiarity with Lean principles or continuous improvement concepts
  • Prior exposure to SAP or ERP systems
  • Experience with process mapping or layout development tools
  • CAD (layout and material flow concepts – preferred)
  • SAP (inventory management, goods movements, material data – exposure preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Analyze internal logistics and warehouse processes to identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
  • Assist with warehouse layout analysis and material placement optimization to reduce travel time and improve pull efficiency
  • Support cycle counting activities, inventory accuracy investigations, and root cause analysis
  • Collect, clean, and analyze operational data related to inventory, material movement, and warehouse performance
  • Create process maps, layouts, and documentation for current and future-state processes
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to logistics and inventory
  • Support continuous improvement and Lean initiatives across internal logistics operations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including logistics, manufacturing, and planning
