About The Position

The IT Specialist supports the Enterprise Systems Team at GMRE HQ (South Ogden, UT). This position is responsible for assisting in the maintenance, deployment, and support of secure and reliable IT infrastructure, including endpoints, networks, and office technology systems. The IT Specialist will troubleshoot hardware and software issues, support system configurations and deployments, and maintain accurate asset tracking within a structured and compliance-driven environment. The IT Specialist position will be required to perform work on-site, in the office. GMRE will not provide moving allowances for this position. The right candidate must be local to Ogden, UT and able to work on-site in the office Monday - Friday. This position is NOT eligible for Visa Sponsorship. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Familiarity with computer hardware, mobile devices, printers, and networking fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of Windows 10/11 installation, configuration, and basic administrative tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware components including desktops, laptops, peripherals, and network-connected devices.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts including IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, and LAN infrastructure.
  • Basic understanding of structured cabling standards and Ethernet termination (Cat5e/Cat6).
  • Experience using a ticketing system to track and document technical support activities.
  • Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues in a structured and methodical manner.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and work within established security controls.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating within a team environment.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment up to 50 pounds and assist with physical IT setup as required.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT support, help desk, or technical support role preferred.
  • To conform to U.S. Government international trade regulations, applicant must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the U.S. Citizen required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State or U.S. Department of Commerce.
  • Driving or renting a car for company business is expected with some frequency. For insurance purposes, a valid driver’s license is required.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to safely climb and work from ladders.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar industry certification (preferred)
  • Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and deploy computer hardware, software, operating systems, networks, printers, and scanners.
  • Provide comprehensive Tier 1 technical support for company hardware, software, operating systems, business applications, and network-connected devices (onsite and remote).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware, software, operating system, and network-related issues; escalate complex problems when necessary.
  • Replace or repair hardware components such as hard drives, memory, monitors, and peripherals as needed.
  • Assist with system imaging, endpoint configuration, and secure device deployment.
  • Support device setup and configuration in accordance with company security standards and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate IT asset inventory and assist with equipment tracking and documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding technical tasks in accordance with established access control procedures.
  • Coordinate and support office relocations, including workstation setup, structured cabling, and network equipment installation.
  • Install, run, terminate, and label Ethernet (Cat5e/Cat6) cabling for new and relocated LAN connections, including termination of wall jacks and patch panels as required.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting, including connectivity, IP configuration, and peripheral support.
  • Document work performed within ticketing or tracking systems.
  • Assist with secure handling, storage, and disposal of IT equipment.
  • Support general IT operations and special projects assigned by the Enterprise Systems Team.
