About The Position

The Florey is one of Australia’s leading medical research institutes, and we’re growing our digital and automation capability. We’re looking for a proactive Junior IT Analyst to join our IT Development team and help modernise and streamline the way our organisation works. This is an exciting opportunity for someone early in their IT career who wants to gain hands‑on experience in business process automation, low‑code application development, data systems support, and emerging AI technologies. As a Junior IT Analyst, you will support process improvement initiatives, assist in developing internal applications, enhance data systems, and contribute to AI-driven solutions that support research and operational teams. You’ll collaborate across the organisation, helping staff optimise workflows and adopt new tools. You’ll also provide support for our REDCap platform—setting up new projects, onboarding users, and helping maintain system performance and security.

Requirements

  • Industry certifications or completed Year 12 with relevant study/experience or a combination of education and work experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Clear and helpful written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently or in teams.
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn): Microsoft SharePoint Microsoft Power Platform Python Microsoft Windows (10+) and Office 365 Active Directory basics Network fundamentals (TCP/IP, ACLs, firewalls) ITIL support processes
  • Someone who is: Curious, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Comfortable exploring new tools and technologies.
  • A strong team player who works with integrity and respect.
  • Excited by opportunities to modernise systems and improve how people work

Responsibilities

  • Business Process Improvement & Automation Assist with process discovery and analysis using lean improvement methodologies.
  • Collaborate with teams to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Document, map, and communicate current/future-state processes.
  • Translate business needs into solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform and automation tools.
  • Support testing, training, rollout, and business case development.
  • Data Systems, Application & AI Development Explore and support the development of new AI‑powered tools to improve data management, automation, and support services.
  • Contribute to low‑code/no‑code application development (e.g., Power Apps, Power Automate, AI Builder).
  • Work with the IT team and researchers to evaluate AI opportunities aligned with strategic goals.
  • Support data systems, including configuration, administration, and continuous improvement.
  • REDCap Support Onboard new REDCap projects and users.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting.
  • Develop backend scripts and processes to maintain REDCap functionality.
  • Monitor upgrades, patches, and compliance requirements.
