Position Overview The Thermo Lab Coordinator at Nortek Data Center Cooling (DCC) plays a critical role in supporting thermal testing operations that validate the performance, reliability, and safety of Nortek’s data center cooling solutions. This position ensures that all thermal testing is executed with precision, discipline, and alignment to Nortek DCC’s engineering standards, customer commitments, and quality expectations. The coordinator serves as the operational hub between engineering, lab technicians, product management, and service teams to maintain predictable, efficient, and well‑documented test workflows.

Requirements

  • Experience in a laboratory, testing, HVAC, or technical operations environment.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of thermal testing concepts, environmental chambers, or instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data management tools.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to work across engineering, service, and operations teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in a structured quality environment (ISO, AS, or similar).
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems, sensors, and calibration processes.
  • Prior experience in HVAC, data center cooling, or product testing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Lab Scheduling & Workflow Coordination Own the thermal lab schedule, balancing engineering priorities, customer timelines, and resource availability.
  • Coordinate test requests, sample intake, staging, and technician assignments to maintain throughput and minimize bottlenecks.
  • Communicate test status, risks, and schedule impacts to engineering, project managers, and leadership.
  • Operational & Process Discipline Ensure all thermal tests follow approved Nortek DCC procedures, safety requirements, and quality documentation.
  • Support creation, revision, and control of SOPs, work instructions, and test documentation.
  • Maintain accurate logs of test setups, instrumentation, deviations, and results for full traceability.
  • Drive consistency in how tests are prepared, executed, and documented across the lab.
  • Technical & Equipment Support Monitor the condition, calibration, and readiness of thermal chambers, sensors, and data acquisition systems.
  • Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and vendor service to ensure equipment uptime.
  • Assist technicians with troubleshooting basic equipment issues and escalate complex problems appropriately.
  • Data, Reporting & Customer Deliverables Ensure accurate capture of test conditions, data, and observations.
  • Assist engineering with compiling test reports, data summaries, and customer‑facing documentation.
  • Maintain organized digital and physical records aligned with Nortek DCC quality and audit requirements.
  • Safety & Compliance Promote a strong safety culture within the thermal lab environment.
  • Support hazard assessments, PPE compliance, and safe operation of thermal chambers and test equipment.
  • Participate in safety reviews, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
