About The Position
Mika, the Mediterranean restaurant by James Beard Award–winning Chef Michael White, is seeking a poised, confident, and hospitality-driven Lead Host / Hostess to oversee the host stand and serve as the first and lasting impression of the restaurant. This role is ideal for a polished professional with strong leadership skills, exceptional organization, and a genuine passion for guest experience. The Lead Host / Hostess plays a critical role in managing reservations, guest flow, and front-door hospitality while supporting service standards and team culture.
Requirements
- Previous hosting experience required; lead or supervisory experience preferred
- Fine-dining or upscale restaurant experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
- Calm, confident demeanor in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Professional appearance and polished presence
- Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Responsibilities
- Greet all guests with warmth, professionalism, and confidence
- Manage reservations, waitlists, and guest seating to ensure optimal flow and service pacing
- Build rapport with regulars and VIP guests, ensuring personalized experiences
- Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and concerns with grace and efficiency
- Lead, train, and support host/hostess team members
- Set expectations for service standards, appearance, and professionalism
- Coordinate closely with management and floor leadership during service
- Assist with opening and closing host stand procedures
- Manage reservation systems accurately and efficiently
- Communicate table status and guest notes clearly with managers and service staff
- Anticipate high-volume periods and proactively adjust seating strategies
- Maintain accurate guest profiles and notes when applicable
- Serve as a role model for hospitality, composure, and teamwork
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming host stand
- Support FOH team members as needed to ensure seamless service
- Uphold all company policies, safety, and sanitation standards
