About The Position

AIMS Locum Tenens is seeking dependable and skilled LPNs/LVNs to support the OB/GYN Outpatient Clinics at Naval Medical Center Portmouth . The nurse will assist with direct patient care, vital signs, health documentation, and routine gynecological and prenatal procedures. This role supports a fast-paced, collaborative women's healthcare clinic focused on prevention, early diagnosis, and care coordination. General Duties: Provide care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or healthcare provider Deliver services as outlined in the clinical scope and contract Support patient preparation and flow in the outpatient setting Maintain infection control, safety, and documentation standards Specific Duties: Prepare exam rooms and assist with OB/GYN visits and minor procedures Obtain and document vital signs, weight, height, and medical history Collect specimens for labs (e.g., pap smears, cultures) Administer injections and medications as directed Schedule patient appointments and provide follow-up instructions Support patient education for prenatal care, contraception, or procedures Maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies in the clinical area Cross-cover within women’s health clinics when needed

Requirements

  • Degree: Certificate or diploma from an accredited LPN/LVN program
  • Education: Graduate from a state-approved or military-accredited nursing program
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Experience: Minimum of one year of recent clinical experience in women’s health, OB/GYN, or outpatient settings
  • Licensure: Current, active, unrestricted LPN or LVN license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Skills and Abilities: Experience supporting OB/GYN visits and patient care tasks
  • Knowledge of common women’s health procedures
  • Strong attention to detail with patient documentation
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records
  • Professional and empathetic bedside manner
  • Must provide proof of vaccination (MMR, Varicella, TDAP, Hep B, Flu) and TB screening
  • Completion of NAVMED 6260/91 or equivalent DHA form required
  • Must complete background check and credentialing process (approx. 45–90 days)
