Who You Are: As a Machinist in our fabrication department, you will work alongside your peers to produce machined parts by setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) mills and lathes; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. A Day in the Life: Plans machining by studying work orders, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, and machining parameters. Sets-up mills and lathes by installing collets and chucks, tools, attachments, bushings, stops, and probes; indicating vises. Verifies programs by measuring dimensions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to company standards. Uses standard measuring devices (calipers, micrometers) to take responsibility for quality and accuracy of work. Achieves specifications by drilling, tapping, grooving, and cutting; including turning, facing, and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming at controls; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes. Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations. Maintains equipment by performing basic upkeep tasks and requesting repairs as needed. Maintains continuity among work shifts and team members by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Experience with Haas CNC machines and Haas Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS) is a plus. Programming experience and familiarity with basic G & M code is a plus. What Will Set You Up for Success: A high school diploma or equivalent. Additional knowledge and/or training/certification in Lean Manufacturing and 5S is a plus! You enjoy solving problems. You have basic computer skills (e-mail, internet, and Microsoft Office).
