About The Position

Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for a Maintenance/Construction Technician II. The primary purpose of this position is to provide support in the areas of drywall, plastering, caulking, masonry of multi-surfaces; wall, floor, ceiling, tile setting; ceramic, terrazzo, and general masonry and carpentry to preserve the integrity of the buildings at Broughton Hospital. The primary purpose of Facility Engineering is to provide the following services to Broughton Hospital and the Western Region VR: • Provide a program of maintenance and repair of structures, grounds and equipment • Operate equipment and utility systems in an efficient, safe, and cost-conscious manner • Provide planning, design, and construction management services for replacement, additions and renovations of structures, handrails, equipment and utilities • Provide consultation to other departments and agencies on matters related to planning, maintenance and construction

Requirements

  • High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one (1) year of progressive experience in the assigned trade areas; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation.
  • This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
  • Monday through Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm. However, flexibility with work hours is required to meet hospital needs.
  • All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy.
  • Good physical condition to perform heavy work (on occasion) exerting up to 100lbs or force, ability to work overhead or from ladders, on hands/knees for extended periods of time.
  • Meet physical requirements to wear NIOSH approved respirator as required.
  • Significant work overhead, or on hands and knees for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crawl, climb, stoop, & lift.
  • Ability to work in hot or cold exterior environments for extended periods.
  • Require visual acuity to be able to perform activities for the job such as operating machinery or performing mechanical trade and perform otherwise as needed to meet all needs of job projects and completion.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience including but not limited to accepted trade practices regarding plastering, masonry and drywall.
  • Experience with the methods, practices, tools and materials used in construction, demolition, masonry, and repair of buildings, general maintenance and machinery.
  • Prefer candidate to have ability to assist Facility Engineering as requested with a wide range of associated tasks
  • Masonry abilities including experience in Commercial/Industrial/Facility Setting
  • Plaster and Drywall abilities including experience in Commercial/Industrial/Facility Setting
  • Experience with caulking techniques and ability to correctly restore cosmetic cohesion
  • Experience and ability to repair outside vendor(s) various project deficiencies
