About The Position

The C-UAS Mechanical Technician – Fabrication, will fabricate, assemble, retrofit, and field emergency response trailers that host C‑UAS equipment—masts, sensor racks (RF/radar/EO‑IR), C2 compute/network/backhaul, power/generator systems, and environmental enclosures. This role ensures the finished units are road‑legal, properly secured for transport, safe to service (LOTO), and power‑safe, while producing the checklists and as‑built records required for DHS lifecycle reviews.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S citizen with an ACTIVE security clearance of at least the SECRET level.
  • 5+ years hands‑on fabrication experience with trailers/mobile platforms, expeditionary shelters, or similar.
  • Proven ability to deliver road‑legal trailers and to implement cargo securement per performance criteria & WLL.
  • Experience installing gensets and UL 1640‑listed portable power distribution with neat, labeled wiring and panel schedules.
  • Comfortable working under LOTO procedures for energized/mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read mechanical/electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and follow build travelers; competent with precision measurement and hand/power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and install structural members, brackets, and equipment racks; set and verify weight/CG and leveling/jack points for transport and deployed states.
  • Build and fit mast systems, cable carriers, and strain relief; verify smooth raising/lowering with defined safety clearances.
  • Install tiedown tracks/rings/chains/webbing and document Working Load Limits (WLL); rig test loads and perform shake downs so the trailer meets lateral & rearward performance requirements and aggregate rules.
  • Complete transport checklists and sign off road readiness with photos and torque logs.
  • Mount diesel gensets and fuel tanks; build exhaust, vibration isolation, and spill containment per installation drawings; retain spec plates/labels that support applicability documentation.
  • Wire portable power distribution using listed assemblies; label panels/circuits and complete functional testing.
  • Terminate truck trailer connectors and junction boxes to pinout, with sealed glands and strain relief for heavy duty service.
  • Install rated enclosures appropriate to environment and document selections in the build record.
  • Follow and help enforce LOTO for generators, lifts, and rotating equipment; apply lock/verify/try and maintain LOTO logs.
  • Perform incoming QC, in process inspections and final acceptance with road legal and securement sign offs before release.
  • Produce as built photos, redlined drawings, wiring schematics, torque logs, WLL certificates, generator/UL panel data sheets, and checklists aligned to program lifecycle review packages.
