About The Position

The C-UAS Test Engineer supports the Test & Evaluation Lead in planning, executing, analyzing, and documenting Developmental Test (DT) and Operational Test (OT) events across the DHS C‑UAS capability. This includes integrated testing of RF/radar/EO-IR sensors, C2 software, networking/backhaul, trailers/kits, cybersecurity controls, and (if authorized) EW/jamming systems. The role operates within the DHS Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC), which mandates structured technical reviews, exit criteria, and lifecycle test artifacts for acceptance and fielding decisions and will execute test procedures, configure instrumentation, validate data, coordinate with FAA/UAS test ranges, and contribute to the performance evidence required for DHS decisions.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S citizen with an ACTIVE security clearance of at least the SECRET level.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, Systems), Physics, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • 6+ years of Test Engineering experience supporting system/subsystem testing (preferably C4ISR, sensor systems, unmanned systems, or defense programs).
  • Hands‑on experience testing RF/radar, EO/IR, networking, or C2 software components.
  • Proficiency in test instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and structured test execution.
  • Experience producing test artifacts in accordance with a formal lifecycle such as DHS SELC.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and change tracking practices (aligned with IEEE 828 and ISO 10007).
  • Ability to conduct first‑order analysis using Python/Matlab or equivalent tools.

Responsibilities

  • Support the T&E Lead in developing Test Plans, Detailed Test Procedures, Test Cards, and Data Collection Plans consistent with DHS SELC and DoD T&E best practices.
  • Assist in defining verification methods, requirements traceability, and entrance/exit criteria for test events.
  • Execute instrumented field tests, both laboratory and live fly, across sensors (RF/radar/EO IR), C2 software, trailerized systems, and networked components.
  • Conduct configuration, calibration, and checkout of test equipment and measurement systems.
  • Coordinate with test ranges, including airspace approvals and FAA COA processes.
  • Follow test safety procedures and support hazard mitigation aligned with system safety practices.
  • Operate data recorders, loggers, and analytics tools to capture raw sensor and system data.
  • Validate data quality and ensure metadata completeness for traceability and reproducibility.
  • Conduct preliminary analysis of key T&E metrics.
  • Support configuration control of test assets, test scripts, environment baselines, and collected datasets, consistent with CM principles.
  • Document issues, observations, defects, and anomalies; support CCBs as needed.
  • Draft Quicklook Reports, Data Summaries, and Test Event Logs.
  • Contribute analytical inputs for verification crosswalks, evaluation reports, and SELC technical review packages.
  • Support Readiness Reviews (TRR/OTRR) by delivering accurate test artifacts.
  • Verify test configurations comply with cyber baselines and assist in generating RMF relevant evidence.
  • Ensure test data handling meets DHS data integrity and CM expectations.
